Tuner

Find the note

See the note, cents and frequency. The dial turns green with a soft tap when you are in tune, from your voice down to low B on a 5-string bass.

Set A4 from 430 to 450 Hz and choose sharps or flats.

Metronome

Practice with a pulse

Set 20 to 300 BPM or tap your tempo. Choose a time signature, subdivisions and accents, then a click or one of 16 drum grooves.

It keeps playing when the screen locks.

Reference tone

Tune by ear

Hold any note from C0 to B5 in Pure, Warm or Bright. The tone follows your A4 setting and can play alongside the metronome.

Use headphones or a speaker for the lowest notes.

Good to know

Is Gelato Tuner free?

Yes, all of it. The tuner, the metronome with every groove, and the tone are free. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no account.

What can I tune with it?

Any instrument or your voice. It is a chromatic tuner, so it shows whichever note you play, and it reads down to the low B string of a 5-string bass.

Does the tuner record me?

No. The app listens through the microphone only while the Tuner tab is on screen, and nothing it hears is recorded, stored or sent anywhere. Switch to another tab and the microphone turns off.

Can I tune to something other than A 440?

Yes. Set A4 anywhere from 430 to 450 Hz. The Tone tab follows the same setting, so the reference tone always matches the tuner.

Which drum grooves does the metronome have?

Sixteen: Rock, Pop, Ballad, Half-Time, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Country, Shuffle, Blues, Swing, Bossa Nova, Samba, Waltz, Jazz Waltz. There are also six plain click sounds: Click, Woodblock, Beep, Cowbell, Hi-Hat, Rim.

Does the metronome keep going when my screen locks?

Yes. Start it, lock your iPhone, and it keeps time.

Can I play the tone and the metronome at the same time?

Yes. Start a tone, switch to the Metronome tab and start that too. Both keep playing together.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone with iOS 18 or later. The app never connects to the internet, so it works anywhere, including rehearsal rooms with no signal.
